[00:00] SPEAKER_01: Welcome to Canada's podcast, the number one podcast for entrepreneurs by
[00:06] SPEAKER_01: entrepreneurs. So hi everyone today I'm with Sean Doha who's an entrepreneur,
[00:13] SPEAKER_01: business coach and author so thanks for being with us today. Thank you. Great so
[00:18] SPEAKER_01: we always love to start with tell us about how you came to be an entrepreneur and
[00:22] SPEAKER_00: where are you at right now. Good yeah yeah I can go a little further back and
[00:27] SPEAKER_00: tell you that when I was going up I never expected to be an entrepreneur. You
[00:31] SPEAKER_00: know I had two parents that were working at very you know standard clear jobs
[00:36] SPEAKER_00: where they were not you know looking for me to start doing wild things like
[00:39] SPEAKER_00: trying a new business. They always told me you work at the same place for the
[00:43] SPEAKER_00: rest of your life and you're getting a really nice watch at the end and
[00:45] SPEAKER_00: everything will be stable right now. So I went in the whole of the direction and
[00:50] SPEAKER_00: so I was part of the family business in 2004 there was a lighting business my
[00:54] SPEAKER_00: in-laws that started it in 1999 I joined the family business a little later and
[00:59] SPEAKER_00: my father had managed to bring this business on the TSX stock exchange which is
[01:03] SPEAKER_00: really an amazing story how he pulled it off. She's very very smart man and you
[01:07] SPEAKER_00: know cert buying companies and he had this amazing growth a really great
[01:11] SPEAKER_00: Quebec success story brought the company after over $50 million so it was
[01:16] SPEAKER_00: really amazing and then the financial crash hit in 2007 in the US and we were a
[01:23] SPEAKER_00: little bit over leverage and it was really really difficult with the whole
[01:26] SPEAKER_00: business in crashing down within a year and so we ended up in 2008 and now by
[01:31] SPEAKER_00: brother-in-law and I you know we're looking at this mess because there really
[01:35] SPEAKER_00: wasn't mess and we said okay what can we do you know to revive this thing and so
[01:40] SPEAKER_00: with my father in law is out we were able to buy back some of the assets some
[01:43] SPEAKER_00: inventory save a lot of jobs for the people who have lost their jobs and we
[01:48] SPEAKER_00: relaunched our business under a name called Dallas lighting at that time.
[01:52] SPEAKER_01: Great and then so what happened since then you know like what changes have you
[01:57] SPEAKER_01: made or like how did you transform by being the employee to now one of the owner?
[02:02] SPEAKER_00: That's a great question again you know I look back at it now and it was you know
[02:06] SPEAKER_00: pretty crazy as a story I never thought myself much of risk we were actually
[02:10] SPEAKER_00: taking by morging our houses the second time it almost felt like oh we just got
[02:14] SPEAKER_00: to do this you know but not it's only what it told me now like the risks of
[02:18] SPEAKER_00: statements I think I was kind of young and naive you know but it ended up in a great decision
[02:23] SPEAKER_00: so we started this new business you know we had inherited a few teams and you know first
[02:27] SPEAKER_00: couple of years like many businesses are really challenging right where it's just trying to make
[02:31] SPEAKER_00: the next paychecks trying to get some you know money banks wouldn't even support us because we
[02:35] SPEAKER_00: didn't have enough leverage at that point to even have a bank to back us so we were going along we
[02:40] SPEAKER_00: used a factory company I don't know if you've ever heard of that Sandra but factoring is kind of
[02:44] SPEAKER_00: a company that you know they give you money with high interest on your receivables and your inventory
[02:49] SPEAKER_00: sits very high interest it's not something you want to get into but we have no choice so that was
[02:53] SPEAKER_00: kind of our first step into the financial markets and then eventually a bank you know it's
[02:57] SPEAKER_00: E.D. and a great partner they helped us after that but what happened was to us in 2012 we hit a
[03:02] SPEAKER_00: wall you know we were not innovating anymore we did another product we did another like people
[03:08] SPEAKER_00: and one of our competitors at that time launched a product line that was directly competitive
[03:13] SPEAKER_00: with us copied every single one of our products which is really really insane and put them all out
[03:18] SPEAKER_00: of dollar or less and so a lot of our customers started calling saying well what are we going to do
[03:22] SPEAKER_00: you know this product is less expensive now and we thought our world was over we thought we were
[03:27] SPEAKER_00: closing the doors business was done but now looking back it was the absolute best thing that happened
[03:32] SPEAKER_00: to us because it made us realize you know what we need to step up our game we need to take things to
[03:37] SPEAKER_00: the next level and that's actually when we went out and found the business coach we've hired this
[03:42] SPEAKER_00: amazing woman in Cleo she brought in what was called then the Rockefeller habits now it's called
[03:46] SPEAKER_00: the scaling up methodology and we basically put this methodology into place we ended up changing a
[03:52] SPEAKER_00: lot of our team we changed almost 80% of our team over the next five years because there were a lot
[03:56] SPEAKER_00: of people we realized it weren't fits for our business and clearly we transformed the culture
[04:00] SPEAKER_00: and that we've been going strong ever since you know we've tripled our revenue during that period
[04:06] SPEAKER_00: and it's been that it's been a really cool ride it was a lot of learning but I'm happy we found
[04:11] SPEAKER_01: that methodology that was really game changer for us and I would be curious to see the difference in
[04:17] SPEAKER_01: your Sunday evening family dinner you know over the years you know like how was the dynamic at home
[04:24] SPEAKER_00: or with the your family well so great question you know my brother-in-law and I get along famously
[04:29] SPEAKER_00: super close and then you know my in-laws were no longer really part as much of the business in terms
[04:34] SPEAKER_00: of the day-to-day they were actually helping us grow sales in the US because we opened up a whole
[04:38] SPEAKER_00: division in Florida and they did an amazing job actually growing that market like really amazing
[04:43] SPEAKER_00: so yes we ended up speaking away too much about business in the first few years my wife was in
[04:48] SPEAKER_00: the business too so it was truly a family affair and eventually we stopped that because that was
[04:54] SPEAKER_00: very unhealthy to be honest with you and you know it was a good job in the in the family of making
[04:59] SPEAKER_00: sure we separated business and family sometimes we would get into it and it was a bit challenging
[05:04] SPEAKER_00: but for the most part we said okay you know when we're on the weekend we're going to have to tell
[05:08] SPEAKER_00: ourselves this you know everyone it's the weekend we avoid talking about the business because it's
[05:13] SPEAKER_00: not going to be fair for the people who are not part of the company right now and we were starting to
[05:17] SPEAKER_00: have our kids in those days so you know I was keeping us really busy so you know yes there's a lot of
[05:22] SPEAKER_00: challenges but there's a lot of you know interesting advantages to the family business where you can
[05:26] SPEAKER_00: really trust the people you know I've seen a lot of scary stories with partnerships falling apart
[05:31] SPEAKER_00: people not being able to trust each other along the way you know we never had that we always have
[05:35] SPEAKER_00: this complete relationship of trust right could put my full trust into my brother-in-law you can
[05:40] SPEAKER_00: fully trust me to do the right things of course there's always you know disagreements and arguments
[05:45] SPEAKER_00: like in any business but I think that extra level of trust really gave us that added energy to move
[05:50] SPEAKER_01: forward so trust setting boundaries like anything else that like any other advice you'd want to give
[05:57] SPEAKER_01: like people listening who are in family businesses or want to start a family business I would say
[06:03] SPEAKER_00: the biggest thing more than even trust and setting boundaries is creating clear roles and responsibilities
[06:09] SPEAKER_00: I think that's absolutely huge because what happens is in any business it's a challenge especially
[06:14] SPEAKER_00: it's a challenge when the shareholders are the entrepreneurs in the business and separating call them
[06:19] SPEAKER_00: you know two different hats my friend the Hugo's another great coach that I know he likes calling them
[06:25] SPEAKER_00: you know drawers you know where you're actually opening the drawers and you're taking out a
[06:29] SPEAKER_00: different personality each time so people for for one have to learn the difference from being a
[06:33] SPEAKER_00: shareholder and being someone running a business they're completely different and most entrepreneurs
[06:39] SPEAKER_00: I know mix those two up they actually end up putting them in the same bucket and they treat their
[06:43] SPEAKER_00: businesses as a shareholder they treat their roles and responsibilities the same way which is
[06:47] SPEAKER_00: actually pretty wrong so I would say you know for any entrepreneur especially in a family business
[06:52] SPEAKER_00: learn to establish right off the bat who's taking care of what you know where where does
[06:57] SPEAKER_00: it really responsibilities lie where do the roles lie and make sure that that is very clear when
[07:02] SPEAKER_00: you clarify that it'll really allow for much better structure overall especially for your employees
[07:09] SPEAKER_01: yeah I can't I can't imagine I can't imagine and and so you said your your company is based in
[07:14] SPEAKER_01: in Quebec so you know what the UCS and you started it also like in a time that was actually really
[07:20] SPEAKER_01: tough so like what do you see are like the advantages of doing business here you also mentioned in
[07:25] SPEAKER_01: the United States so like what does your location look like and what are the benefits of being here
[07:32] SPEAKER_01: in Quebec or you know having businesses outside outside the borders sure so it's a really great
[07:38] SPEAKER_00: question it's actually going to lead to an answer that's going to give a little perspective on the
[07:41] SPEAKER_00: reason we even went to the US what we realized is that people in general whether they're in Quebec
[07:47] SPEAKER_00: whether they're in Canada or whether in the US are very they're very much patriots right they
[07:52] SPEAKER_00: they very much respect and like buying locally and the thing is that as soon as you set up shop in
[07:57] SPEAKER_00: the right ways you know they'll just assume that you're local at that point so you know obviously
[08:01] SPEAKER_00: in Quebec you know we had the advantage of being very interconnected from the previous family
[08:06] SPEAKER_00: business and into the new business with all the amazing customers we have here the multi-luminaires
[08:10] SPEAKER_00: the Incademy Nye you know the Home Depot's the Lumens the Westburns all the different clients that
[08:16] SPEAKER_00: we deal with that really helped but you know the truth Sandra if we're being honest is that as
[08:21] SPEAKER_00: soon as we go outside Quebec and we do our marketing outside of Quebec we market ourselves much more
[08:26] SPEAKER_00: like a Canadian company because that's just the perspective that people seem to appreciate more
[08:31] SPEAKER_00: so we would always make an effort to make it seem seamless for example a lot of the companies
[08:36] SPEAKER_00: that we deal with their head offices are in Toronto so you know a lot of our competitors were also
[08:40] SPEAKER_00: in Toronto so that's a bit of a disadvantage so one of our customers would say okay I want to
[08:45] SPEAKER_00: meeting tomorrow Sean at three o'clock we would literally have to get on planes and not start saying
[08:51] SPEAKER_00: oh you know it's going to be complicated we would just get on a plane and get the Toronto as quickly
[08:54] SPEAKER_00: as possible and make it seem seamless for them and not make it seem like we're actually located
[08:59] SPEAKER_00: outside of their city so that was something that was quite important there's a little less impactful
[09:03] SPEAKER_00: in BC they didn't really carry we're just kind of the East Coast people at that point so it was like
[09:08] SPEAKER_00: a bit of a different thought process there but the same was true for us in the US like we started
[09:13] SPEAKER_00: realizing early in the business that we were not going to be able to have true growth in the US
[09:17] SPEAKER_00: unless we were located in the US and that's what led us into having an office there you might ask
[09:23] SPEAKER_00: why the heck are you in Florida you know obviously co-beckers have a nice tie with people from Florida
[09:27] SPEAKER_00: that's for sure on the on the the state but what happened to us is that we ended up getting a lot
[09:33] SPEAKER_00: of customers out of the Miami market so the Miami market is the same it's a very modern innovative
[09:38] SPEAKER_00: type market with lighting and our products are very innovative and modern so was a really great
[09:43] SPEAKER_00: opportunity for us to go into that location in territory built some amazing relationships on
[09:48] SPEAKER_00: rapport which then allowed us after that to really you know grow the business there and then it
[09:54] SPEAKER_00: just became easy at that point to say okay let's have a head office or a US head office in coral
[09:59] SPEAKER_00: springs which is near Fort Lauderdale and we'll just ship everywhere in the US from this location
[10:03] SPEAKER_00: as we grow it might be a bit of a challenge because it's not as big of a hub this let's say Atlanta
[10:09] SPEAKER_00: for example which is a big hub for California or even like New York or the you know the Upper East
[10:14] SPEAKER_00: Coast and the Northeast so we'll see where that goes but so far the decision to go in local areas
[10:20] SPEAKER_00: was really to have that local presence and seem like we're from there and you just end up getting
[10:24] SPEAKER_01: that much more business there that's great and right now we we're talking about your entrepreneur
[10:30] SPEAKER_01: entrepreneurial life but we also said that your business goes in author so like what happened to
[10:35] SPEAKER_01: have you shift to that or like where all these hats at the same time because you're still
[10:40] SPEAKER_01: running the business and doing all these other things so like what happened?
[10:43] SPEAKER_00: So you know I've been really obsessed with this quest for happiness you know you're
[10:49] SPEAKER_00: matching my name at the beginning of Sean I actually have an Indian name and my Indian name is
[10:53] SPEAKER_00: sucra and sucraja actually means that happy leader in my in my language in the pejabi language
[10:59] SPEAKER_00: which is Indian and so I don't know what those guys my grandmother named me that way when I was
[11:04] SPEAKER_00: young and I've been obsessed with it but I've really had this quest for happiness my entire life
[11:08] SPEAKER_00: and you know in the business like most entrepreneurs I met when I speak with them the majority
[11:13] SPEAKER_00: of the time they seem pretty unhappy they're stressed out they're overwhelmed they're overworked
[11:18] SPEAKER_00: you don't have a work like balance and they keep looking to this point in the future or they say
[11:22] SPEAKER_00: when x happens then I'll be happy what we end up realizing is that x actually never happens because
[11:29] SPEAKER_00: x is selling my business but they might not sell their business for a decade maybe never
[11:33] SPEAKER_00: for all we know or they'll say okay you know when I have that time the kind of things are going
[11:37] SPEAKER_00: to slow down then I'll be happy the most of the time are the things don't slow down especially in
[11:41] SPEAKER_00: today's you know speed of market and industry or it slows down so much that they get more
[11:46] SPEAKER_00: stressed because now they don't have any more business so along the way I was helping a lot of
[11:50] SPEAKER_00: entrepreneurs through the entrepreneurs organization smaller businesses also I was just getting back
[11:55] SPEAKER_00: my time helping them grow helping them fix their businesses and I started realizing I had a true
[11:59] SPEAKER_00: passion for something that I really really love doing and so a couple of years ago you know I was
[12:04] SPEAKER_00: looking at the business of my brother-in-law and I said you know what I'm not as fulfilled as I'd
[12:08] SPEAKER_00: like to be in this business you know I'd like to go follow my passion but I'd love to stay involved
[12:13] SPEAKER_00: with you so what can we do stuff that I've been set up where you run the business you know with my
[12:18] SPEAKER_00: support and also coach the business I hope you hire the right talent but I can go pursue helping
[12:22] SPEAKER_00: other businesses non-competitors of course Andrew it helped other businesses grow on their end
[12:28] SPEAKER_00: and that led to a lot of leadership conferences and speaking that I ended up doing because I had a
[12:32] SPEAKER_00: lot of opportunities there which then led to the book also the happy leader which I started writing
[12:37] SPEAKER_00: in 2012 so I started writing it eight years ago believe it or not and so now it's just being
[12:43] SPEAKER_00: finished up as we speak and so that was the journey that led me to that and it's been really
[12:47] SPEAKER_00: cool because now I kind of get the best of both worlds I get to help you know we're growing along
[12:51] SPEAKER_00: the company continues thriving but I get to help about 25 other businesses across North America grow
[12:56] SPEAKER_01: as well wow that's fantastic so it's really under pursuit of happiness that like you were like
[13:01] SPEAKER_01: okay I need to maybe take a little bit less time on the business and actually be able to contribute
[13:07] SPEAKER_00: to other other people yeah exactly it was really this idea of saying okay it was happiness and I'd
[13:13] SPEAKER_00: say the second part of his impact so I said to myself how can I impact as many people as possible
[13:18] SPEAKER_00: I think I was impacting you are 50 or so employees at our company which is great and how
[13:22] SPEAKER_00: and I think some customers and suppliers but I said is there a way for me to have a bigger impact
[13:26] SPEAKER_00: and really help people find more joy in the journey because I really feel like people are on this
[13:32] SPEAKER_00: journey and they're just missing it you know they're kind of not really participating in the journey
[13:38] SPEAKER_00: that they're on and they're going to look back I think to themselves what just happened you know
[13:41] SPEAKER_00: the last five years ten years 12 years where did they go and so when I work with clients that's my
[13:46] SPEAKER_00: first thing I say I ask them are you happy are you happy in your business how's your happiness level
[13:51] SPEAKER_00: and we actually have an assessment in scaling up that ask those questions you know are you tired
[13:56] SPEAKER_00: of being the business is management fun and the last question is are you happy and we see what
[14:01] SPEAKER_00: the answers come out and then I also tell my clients I'm going to help you you know with that process
[14:06] SPEAKER_00: now I implement some really strange things Sandra you'd be surprised to see some of the stuff we do
[14:11] SPEAKER_00: with for example in some of the coaching meetings we do you know full day strategic planning
[14:15] SPEAKER_00: all of them integrate meditation right into the middle of the day and I'll appear like what is
[14:20] SPEAKER_00: this while you're doing meditation I'll say listen we just work on super heavy stuff strategy
[14:25] SPEAKER_00: figuring out your vision for the next you know ten years priorities the right people in the right
[14:30] SPEAKER_00: seats then I send you on a break and you go on your break and you start checking your email
[14:35] SPEAKER_00: and now you have fires to put out because now you're stuck with me all day years so you're playing
[14:38] SPEAKER_00: out fires you're calling people back and now you come back to the table and your brain is fried
[14:42] SPEAKER_00: because now you've done all these other things and now you need to get back in the zone and now we
[14:47] SPEAKER_00: get to start talking about core clients and core you know territories how can I expect them to
[14:51] SPEAKER_00: have focus and not be distracted so I'll often do you know a breathing exercise and meditation or
[14:57] SPEAKER_00: some stretching and I'll get them back into the zone so that we can start again and I also teach
[15:02] SPEAKER_00: them that that is a superpower that people don't realize it reduces stress greatly I even
[15:07] SPEAKER_00: encourage my clients to have meditation practices in their workplace to be honest with you
[15:13] SPEAKER_01: well those are great advice because you know Canada's podcast is four entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs
[15:18] SPEAKER_01: so really interesting to see that like if anyone listening was you know like being like you know
[15:25] SPEAKER_01: felt felt that they were like tired or that they they were like not being happy in their businesses
[15:31] SPEAKER_01: while adding these like little tricks in their daily routine could help like any other things that
[15:36] SPEAKER_01: like you do in your routine that you see makes a difference in like increasing your level of happiness
[15:41] SPEAKER_00: in your business absolutely so that's an amazing question and it might seem a little untastured
[15:46] SPEAKER_00: people I've been I've been very obsessed with this whole thing and I write about it in the book as
[15:49] SPEAKER_00: well it's uh you know I believe greatly in morning routines I'm using routines so tomatoes are
[15:54] SPEAKER_00: two huge parts of the day so anybody who listening to this if you have your cell phone in your bedroom
[16:00] SPEAKER_00: and if you're giving me the excuse that you're using your cell phone as you're alarm
[16:04] SPEAKER_00: going on was on for 999 to buy an alarm clock get ready yourself when you're so much and not even
[16:09] SPEAKER_00: be on the same floor as you're on you don't want to wake up most people that I know they wake up to
[16:13] SPEAKER_00: start checking their phone right away the check their phone they check their email they check the news
[16:17] SPEAKER_00: they check you know whatever they want to check and they're right away programming their brain
[16:21] SPEAKER_00: in the stress mode now because now they're already thinking you could have all these different
[16:25] SPEAKER_00: things to do they're no longer in the present moment right they're thinking of the future where
[16:29] SPEAKER_00: things are going to happen good or bad and that's not the state you want to start in what you want to
[16:34] SPEAKER_00: do is you want to start your day with the right type of intention so I always start my day where
[16:38] SPEAKER_00: kind of get up on the side of my bed and I look at my day and say okay what are the roles I have to
[16:44] SPEAKER_00: take on today is every day we have different roles like for you for example today you're doing a
[16:47] SPEAKER_00: podcast so you have to be a great interviewer for your podcast now I'm a guest so I have to be a
[16:52] SPEAKER_00: great guest on the podcast so this morning I wake up and I said okay I have a couple of coaching
[16:56] SPEAKER_00: sessions and I'm going to be in a podcast so today I have to be an amazing coach and I have to be
[17:01] SPEAKER_00: an amazing podcast here you know an interview interviewer sorry and then I say to myself
[17:05] SPEAKER_00: what skills do I need to make those happen okay so I have to be a really great communicator for
[17:11] SPEAKER_00: example and then I'll really integrate that into what I call the seven levels integration
[17:16] SPEAKER_00: so what what those seven levels are is instead of just saying I want to be a great communicator
[17:21] SPEAKER_00: because that's easy to say but it's not going to really go into your mind you do it different but
[17:24] SPEAKER_00: you say okay it's safe to be an amazing communicator because safety is the number one feeling and
[17:29] SPEAKER_00: emotion that human beings need it's easy to be a great communicator I can be a great communicator
[17:35] SPEAKER_00: I accept to be a great communicator I deserve to be a great communicator I'm ready to be a great
[17:43] SPEAKER_00: communicator and finally you do the affirmation I am a great communicator so it sounds a little bit
[17:49] SPEAKER_00: cheesy baby but if you're actually doing your properly you'll finish it and you'll realize
[17:53] SPEAKER_00: it would have stuck like I'm really going to be an amazing communicator today and now you've
[17:58] SPEAKER_00: set your intention with your identity for the day so to me that's one of the best ways to start
[18:02] SPEAKER_00: the day it's really an amazing way to get going when you look at evening routines most people I know
[18:07] SPEAKER_00: again checking screens until right before bed we're falling asleep on Netflix on like violent shows
[18:13] SPEAKER_00: you need a bit of time before going to bed where you can actually reprogram your mic because you're
[18:19] SPEAKER_00: about to sleep for the next eight hours and whatever you put into your subconscious right before bed
[18:23] SPEAKER_00: is what's going to be working while you're sleeping so you have to change your evening routine the
[18:28] SPEAKER_00: matter what so normally I give myself about 30 minutes and what I do in that 30 minutes I do
[18:32] SPEAKER_00: stretching so just very specific stretching and I visualize the next day what is it that I'm
[18:36] SPEAKER_00: going to accomplish what's going to be my success stories the next day the second thing that I'll
[18:40] SPEAKER_00: do is a gratitude journal so right in a journal all the things that I'm grateful for from the day
[18:46] SPEAKER_00: that just happened and it doesn't have to be huge things it could be as simple as taking a walk
[18:51] SPEAKER_00: with my wife for example or you know having a good talk with my daughter or my son I mean it does
[18:55] SPEAKER_00: not need to be something really huge so you just integrate okay what are the really cool things
[18:59] SPEAKER_00: that happen today what am I grateful for and then I'll often do a smart like a quick meditation five to
[19:05] SPEAKER_00: 10 minutes which is kind of a mind clearing meditation where you clear out everything of your mind
[19:10] SPEAKER_00: so when you go to sleep you're actually going to sleep with a stress-free type of state
[19:17] SPEAKER_01: that's wonderful well definitely taking taking some advice for my evening routine as you said like
[19:22] SPEAKER_01: my evening routine is brushing my teeth so I'm really excited to try this on that try it let me know
[19:28] SPEAKER_01: it goes so if we want to finish a podcast on on a note of like what is your vision you know like you've
[19:34] SPEAKER_01: been talking a lot about like growing businesses like impact you want to have like what's next for
[19:39] SPEAKER_00: you as an entrepreneur yeah there's a lot of different things you know now I'm doing the business
[19:44] SPEAKER_00: coaching thing and when COVID hit it made me put things in the perspective like many of your
[19:48] SPEAKER_00: listeners for sure many entrepreneurs many of the people have the leaders out there so it allowed me
[19:53] SPEAKER_00: to finish my book obviously so that was really great I would never finish it without the buyers to be
[19:57] SPEAKER_00: honest with you it would have just sat there and what it's taken you another 10 years but when I
[20:01] SPEAKER_00: realized that I really want to take my personal coaching business now digital I think there's a
[20:07] SPEAKER_00: really amazing opportunity right now to go into the digital space there's a lot of need online
[20:11] SPEAKER_00: courses are blowing out you know subscription models certifications I'm taking my business much
[20:16] SPEAKER_00: more in that direction which I think is really big I'll be hosting a virtual summit as a matter of
[20:20] SPEAKER_00: fact on November 16th which is going to be a really big deal for me actually November 9th I should
[20:26] SPEAKER_00: say and you know what's really cool about that idea about a virtual summit is that you can really
[20:30] SPEAKER_00: become a thought leader and authority in your space so to me that's something that a lot of
[20:34] SPEAKER_00: businesses should be looking into because it doesn't cost a lot to do and what you're doing is
[20:39] SPEAKER_00: you're just trying to get really amazing speakers speak for free about 30 minutes you're interviewing
[20:44] SPEAKER_00: them exactly like you and I are doing here today and then once you're interviewing them it gives
[20:48] SPEAKER_00: you authority and gives you knowledge on specific subjects and then you can go and get that back
[20:52] SPEAKER_00: to your audience and you can grow email lists you know I've heard of stories you know people
[20:57] SPEAKER_00: going to email us from 300 to 11,000 emails with one virtual summit and so it could be a really great
[21:03] SPEAKER_00: marketing tool so that's the main reason I chose to do a virtual summit called the Happy Leader Summit
[21:08] SPEAKER_00: which is going to teach people about all these subjects you know how to set goals the right way
[21:13] SPEAKER_00: how to find better happiness you know I have some incredible women entrepreneurs as well they're
[21:19] SPEAKER_00: talking about their journey and what it took for them to have resilience you know the challenges
[21:23] SPEAKER_00: they've faced it's a really amazing group of 22 speakers that we have lined up so I think
[21:28] SPEAKER_00: other entrepreneurs can go and do that type of thing in their business I think there's a great
[21:31] SPEAKER_01: opportunity for that. So really looking like right now your vision is to look at how to scale your
[21:37] SPEAKER_01: business impact more people but at the same time bring it really like virtual because basically we
[21:43] SPEAKER_01: know that that's going to be most of our future now now that the dynamic is is pretty pretty hearing
[21:49] SPEAKER_00: you know yeah absolutely I mean they're talking about the online course market going to about 300
[21:54] SPEAKER_00: billion over the next three years it's like just some crazy numbers that have been thrown out there
[21:58] SPEAKER_00: so I think people are more ready for it but at the same time I know there's a lot of people doing
[22:02] SPEAKER_00: it when you speak to people how many people do you know we're actually building an online course
[22:06] SPEAKER_00: for themselves it's not that many so I think there's still like this huge opportunity we're at the
[22:10] SPEAKER_00: beginning of it you know there's some really early integrators that have already done it but now
[22:14] SPEAKER_00: is an opportunity that if you have a message to give whether it's your virtual summit whether it's
[22:18] SPEAKER_00: not webinars whether it's through an online course there are opportunities to pick your business
[22:23] SPEAKER_00: more digital and you know really get your message out there. So if people want to talk to you about
[22:29] SPEAKER_01: your journey about you know like how you know how you are using your routine and like the the
[22:35] SPEAKER_01: talents that you have to help people be happy or you know learn about how to bring their business
[22:40] SPEAKER_01: online like what is the best way to connect with you. Very simply I could have to go to Sean
[22:45] SPEAKER_00: Jo-how.com they'll find me there that's like the easiest place to find me or they can email me at
[22:50] SPEAKER_00: Sean at Sean Jo-how.com. Super easy if I'm also very very active on LinkedIn so you'll find me
