[00:32] SPEAKER_05: Welcome to Canada's podcast.
[00:35] SPEAKER_05: The number one podcast for entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs.
[00:42] SPEAKER_01: The global pandemic has constricted our world for over a year.
[00:47] SPEAKER_01: It's time for us to rebuild, but we have no blueprints.
[00:51] SPEAKER_01: No one has ever stood where we're standing today.
[00:54] SPEAKER_01: Only imaginative, inventive thinking will take us to a better place.
[01:00] SPEAKER_01: The Zandal of Fay of Canada's podcast and founder of Futureville where we're building and
[01:05] SPEAKER_01: showcasing individual properties and village centers that are future proof.
[01:11] SPEAKER_01: So I have two amazing treats for you today.
[01:14] SPEAKER_01: First of all, as Margaret just said, you know, this has never happened before.
[01:19] SPEAKER_01: We're offering three head ex tickets to the Bear Creek TEDx event coming up in beautiful
[01:25] SPEAKER_01: British Columbia and three.
[01:27] SPEAKER_01: And this is really for Canadian and global entrepreneurs listening to Canada's podcast
[01:34] SPEAKER_01: who really want to tap into that imaginative, inventive thinking that will take us to a better place.
[01:40] SPEAKER_01: So as I found out, and one of my friends, Margarita, has been one of the curators of
[01:46] SPEAKER_01: the event.
[01:47] SPEAKER_01: So and it shifts the thinking.
[01:50] SPEAKER_01: So Margarita, first of all, welcome to Canada's podcast.
[01:53] SPEAKER_01: I'm super excited to have you here.
[01:55] SPEAKER_01: Tell me a little about your experience as perading this event.
[01:59] SPEAKER_00: Well, thank you.
[02:00] SPEAKER_00: This is fantastic.
[02:03] SPEAKER_00: And yeah, TEDx Bear Creek Park is an amazing event.
[02:09] SPEAKER_00: Last year Isabella and I, my partner Isabella and I were speakers at the event.
[02:14] SPEAKER_00: And this year we were asked to curate one of the categories.
[02:19] SPEAKER_00: So there's different categories of speakers.
[02:21] SPEAKER_00: And we were asked to curate for business law and current affairs, not current affairs,
[02:26] SPEAKER_00: human rights, human rights.
[02:28] SPEAKER_00: And so we had the privilege of basically going out into the community and finding people
[02:39] SPEAKER_00: that would want to audition in this category that had innovative ways of thinking, that
[02:43] SPEAKER_00: had new ideas that had, and what was really interesting was doing that throughout a pandemic.
[02:50] SPEAKER_00: Like it wow.
[02:51] SPEAKER_00: Wow.
[02:52] SPEAKER_00: Even had a bigger purpose, you know?
[02:55] SPEAKER_00: No kidding.
[02:56] SPEAKER_00: Here's the thinking.
[02:57] SPEAKER_01: So literally this is the ticket to shift your thinking for 2021 and beyond.
[03:03] SPEAKER_01: Can you share with us how people can access the TEDx event and register for tickets?
[03:09] SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
[03:10] SPEAKER_00: If you go to TEDxbear Creek Park dot C8, you'll see you can either just click on tickets and give all they ask is your name and email and you get a complimentary ticket to the event, an online event, obviously.
[03:24] SPEAKER_00: And or you can watch the video that's right at the top of the page and it's the leader of this event, Alan Warburton that just talks a little bit about it and he's an amazing individual.
[03:34] SPEAKER_00: And then at the end, you can put your name and email to get the ticket as well.
[03:40] SPEAKER_01: Awesome.
[03:41] SPEAKER_01: So for those people wondering, oh, should I buy a ticket or get a ticket, get a ticket.
[03:46] SPEAKER_01: There's the band.
[03:47] SPEAKER_01: Let attend this event and invest my time.
[03:49] SPEAKER_01: I did a little research on the 12 speakers that are coming up.
[03:52] SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
[03:53] SPEAKER_01: And I saw three theme, really, that sort of came out.
[03:59] SPEAKER_01: And one was what I describe is overcoming systems overload.
[04:05] SPEAKER_01: So there is a speaker that is talking about overcoming the assembly line medicine pandemic.
[04:13] SPEAKER_01: There is a speaker talking about how lowering the voting age in Canada can help preserve environment.
[04:21] SPEAKER_01: Like, OK, totally intriguing.
[04:23] SPEAKER_01: A young, a young woman too.
[04:25] SPEAKER_01: It's pretty amazing.
[04:26] SPEAKER_01: That's super cool.
[04:27] SPEAKER_01: Well, there's somebody talking about overcoming the current challenges in the education system.
[04:34] SPEAKER_01: And as somebody I said the line is imagining having access to the power of neuroscience data
[04:41] SPEAKER_01: using a low cost portable EEG system.
[04:44] SPEAKER_01: What would that do for you in business, right?
[04:45] SPEAKER_01: I mean, those are pretty powerful, powerful talks.
[04:48] SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
[04:49] SPEAKER_01: And something that I know you can talk and we are going to talk about this later in this talk between you
[04:56] SPEAKER_01: and I, Margarita, but rethinking relationship with yourself and others I saw is a kind of
[05:02] SPEAKER_01: undercurrent of theme.
[05:04] SPEAKER_01: Somebody's speaking about the how to lead a fungcially, literally fun, fungcially fit life mentally
[05:11] SPEAKER_01: and physically.
[05:12] SPEAKER_00: Yes.
[05:13] Speaker UNKNOWN:
[05:13] SPEAKER_01: How quality friendship and focusing on leaving a legacy can lead to success.
[05:20] SPEAKER_00: Love that.
[05:22] SPEAKER_01: How youth can use technology to solve society's most pressing problems and understanding,
[05:28] SPEAKER_01: I love there's one in the even there how to save romance in relationships.
[05:33] SPEAKER_00: So they have become their, I find in the pandemic, they have come to the surface.
[05:42] SPEAKER_00: So people are forced to look at their relationships.
[05:45] SPEAKER_00: So this is very, it's going to reach a lot of people just why you need to do that.
[05:52] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[05:52] SPEAKER_01: And the last one I saw in that relationship was understanding impacts that are words and actions have
[05:57] SPEAKER_01: unguiding the next generation that are just an action, right?
[06:02] SPEAKER_01: And there's a few little hidden gems in that in the speaker lineup.
[06:05] SPEAKER_01: And I kind of theme them under building new communities.
[06:08] SPEAKER_01: So, you know, there's a woman, I can't wait to hear her, her talk about building a local
[06:14] SPEAKER_01: comedy hub and production studio.
[06:16] SPEAKER_01: Like basically a mini ecosystem redefined.
[06:19] SPEAKER_01: And then somebody's talking about integrating multi layered realities to create immersive
[06:26] SPEAKER_01: broken word experiences.
[06:28] SPEAKER_01: And finally, there was one last one preserving natural ecosystems for carbon storage and carbon
[06:34] SPEAKER_01: renewal.
[06:35] SPEAKER_01: So wow, I mean, those are, this is a pretty powerful lineup.
[06:38] SPEAKER_01: So I just want to thank you on behalf of everybody that's made to me for your participation
[06:43] SPEAKER_01: in contribution.
[06:45] SPEAKER_00: Oh, we've been honored to be part of this process.
[06:49] SPEAKER_00: We were honored when they asked us.
[06:51] SPEAKER_00: It was, it was a no-brainer to say yes.
[06:54] SPEAKER_01: And for what it's worth, Merger, do you have two TEDx talks yourself?
[07:00] SPEAKER_01: Do you want to take leave?
[07:01] SPEAKER_01: Sorry, you have one.
[07:03] Speaker UNKNOWN: You have one.
[07:04] SPEAKER_01: You have one.
[07:04] SPEAKER_01: Leap Zone, your business.
[07:05] SPEAKER_01: Yes.
[07:06] SPEAKER_00: Isabelle has two.
[07:07] SPEAKER_00: She did one in 2016 on the power of zero tolerance.
[07:11] SPEAKER_00: And then we did one together last year on how to increase your units of happiness.
[07:18] SPEAKER_01: And yeah, I'm going to talk, let's talk about that.
[07:21] SPEAKER_01: Let's jump right in.
[07:22] SPEAKER_01: So first of all, a little bit more about Margarita from my perspective, but also how her value
[07:29] SPEAKER_01: that she shows up in the world is she is a certified equine, facilitated quote.
[07:35] SPEAKER_01: And I'm going to get you to tap in and tell us what the heck that means in a second.
[07:39] SPEAKER_01: And Margarita helps part centered entrepreneurs and couplepreneurs connect the dots to lead
[07:45] SPEAKER_01: spectacular lives driven by heart and soul.
[07:48] SPEAKER_01: She's also author of, sitting on the fence, and I love the subtitle, which is how to
[07:54] SPEAKER_01: love without limit.
[07:55] SPEAKER_01: This is definitely on my bookshelf.
[07:57] SPEAKER_01: I had the privilege of attending your book launch.
[07:59] SPEAKER_01: So not only do we bring you the actual picket, but you have to think.
[08:05] SPEAKER_01: But Margarita, I'm not going to talk about three secrets that you can make today shift
[08:11] SPEAKER_01: your thinking for 2021 and beyond.
[08:15] SPEAKER_01: So diving right in, I have number, secret number one, no, no, low cost high return asset at 95%
[08:25] SPEAKER_01: of entrepreneurs forget to capitalize on.
[08:30] SPEAKER_01: And I imagine this is you and I together, you, you are the number one asset.
[08:36] SPEAKER_01: You are the number one asset.
[08:38] SPEAKER_01: Can you elaborate Margarita?
[08:40] SPEAKER_01: What does it take to authentically show up in today's massively disruptive shifting world?
[08:47] SPEAKER_01: And how can people lead and operate from the heart grow and create stronger, more aligned relationship?
[08:53] SPEAKER_00: Well, you just said it.
[08:55] SPEAKER_00: It all starts with you.
[08:56] SPEAKER_00: Like with us, we can't control what's happening around us as we've been shown in the last year.
[09:05] SPEAKER_00: Like it's been never been shown on this scale in our generation, right?
[09:10] SPEAKER_00: So you can't control what's happening around you, but you can be it have the power to control what you
[09:18] SPEAKER_00: do, how you want to be, how you want to show up in the world.
[09:23] SPEAKER_00: And a lot of the work that I've been doing this year, which just to continue on your point
[09:28] SPEAKER_00: with this equine facilitated learning, which is basically I partner with horses to coach people
[09:36] SPEAKER_00: and and use the wisdom of the horse to help people because they're prey animals.
[09:41] SPEAKER_00: They're just amazing at reading energy.
[09:44] SPEAKER_00: And so they provide a lot of valuable feedback for people.
[09:47] SPEAKER_00: And this year they've been working nonstop.
[09:52] SPEAKER_00: Like, oh my lord, it's been they don't only tune into who I'm bringing in,
[09:58] SPEAKER_00: but I've actually for the first time ever watched them react to community, to like when there were
[10:04] SPEAKER_00: major things happening that really hit us like when people were hoarding toilet paper and
[10:10] SPEAKER_00: that has energy behind it, right?
[10:12] SPEAKER_00: So and the horses were showing me that they act like mirrors, right?
[10:17] SPEAKER_00: So they became very neurotic and very, you know, they've been going through a lot.
[10:21] SPEAKER_00: Anyway, so but the biggest theme around what I've been helping people with this year
[10:25] SPEAKER_00: is finding themselves is really tuning into and you might be able to speak a little bit about
[10:32] SPEAKER_00: this is really tuning into what matters to me.
[10:36] SPEAKER_00: Who am I? How do I want to show up?
[10:39] SPEAKER_00: And how am I meant to serve in this world?
[10:42] SPEAKER_00: Like what is my purpose?
[10:45] SPEAKER_00: And yeah, it's it's really about following your truth.
[10:50] SPEAKER_00: And I think the pandemic was a way for all of humanity to quickly peel the onion.
[10:59] SPEAKER_00: Yes.
[10:59] SPEAKER_00: And get to like the that realization, right?
[11:02] SPEAKER_00: I've never met so many people who are in tune with that right now who are making massive
[11:09] SPEAKER_00: shifts at work at home and relationships in, well, I mean, travel is kind of limited,
[11:16] SPEAKER_00: but even in location, like even in the end of the year, even if it's within a community,
[11:21] SPEAKER_00: there's just massive change of foot right now.
[11:25] SPEAKER_01: And so I just want to dive a little bit deeper in the how do the horses
[11:32] SPEAKER_01: help in that supporting and I'll probably describe it as how do they help unleash
[11:41] SPEAKER_01: you more authentically than what you can do for yourself.
[11:45] SPEAKER_00: I'll tell you, their biggest secret is they don't care what's going on in here.
[11:51] SPEAKER_00: Whereas as human beings, we are so tied to the mind and what we're thinking, what others
[11:57] SPEAKER_00: are thinking, what they don't pay attention to the head. In fact, if somebody is just living from
[12:03] SPEAKER_00: the neck up, they won't approach that person because to them, it's like a blank slate. They're not
[12:10] SPEAKER_00: there. Right. They're not reading anything because they're not in their body. So they really do
[12:15] SPEAKER_00: read what's being held in the body and what I've discovered in the last year through all of this
[12:22] SPEAKER_00: the amount of knowledge we hold in our bodies easily outweighs what's in our mind.
[12:31] SPEAKER_01: Absolutely. And I'm going to add it because I know some of the equine stories that
[12:38] SPEAKER_01: you and this fellow told me, but also in my own experience is your interpretation. This is
[12:44] SPEAKER_01: the magic of Margaret. Your interpretation is the human ad of this equation, right? How the
[12:51] SPEAKER_01: horse interacts with you and then you know, that's great, but as a person that doesn't have any
[12:59] SPEAKER_01: access to the knowledge of what that meant, you came back to me and I remember our experiences,
[13:05] SPEAKER_01: you came back to me and said, oh my god, like I've never seen and I'm sorry, what are your
[13:10] SPEAKER_01: horses name? Oh, well, there's cash powder, Kaluah Willow. I think it might have been a
[13:17] SPEAKER_01: attach at the time and you said, oh my god, I've never seen that before. I'm like, what does that
[13:24] SPEAKER_01: mean? You just said, no, no, this is great. This is what it means, right? Anyway, that's
[13:31] SPEAKER_01: and I think I would love to see everybody experience it because again, it's like one of those
[13:36] SPEAKER_01: deeper relationships we have with our animal counterparts that you know, sometimes they help us
[13:44] SPEAKER_01: feel and see things that we can't because we're so clouded by, is that what's in your mind?
[13:49] SPEAKER_00: Well, because I act like the translator basically between a horse and the person,
[13:57] SPEAKER_00: the horses have no ego. So when they're having a visceral experience or having this experience
[14:05] SPEAKER_00: being portrayed by an animal that I'm interpreting, it's being received very differently.
[14:12] SPEAKER_00: It's actually, I find people are way more open to looking at the stuff that's showing up for them
[14:19] SPEAKER_00: because that's what the horses are going to reflect. Right? When it's in, when it's an animal behavior
[14:26] SPEAKER_00: versus just a person saying, well, you know, this is what I, based on what you're saying, how you're
[14:31] SPEAKER_00: acting, what you're feeling, this is what I see. Like there's this added element of the horses,
[14:37] SPEAKER_00: I think creates a different way of receiving information for somebody.
[14:43] SPEAKER_01: I'll call it objective. It's the objective, yeah? Like it's like the fly in the wall. It's the
[14:48] SPEAKER_01: you can't misinterpret how the horses are reacting to your energy or your order. Right?
[14:57] SPEAKER_00: And the neat thing is this year, I've really discovered that whether the person is right there
[15:04] SPEAKER_00: in the space with me in the field or on the phone or on video or whatever, any kind of virtual
[15:10] SPEAKER_00: way that I've been really experimenting with this year, it doesn't matter. They're tuned into your
[15:15] SPEAKER_00: energy and that's their work doesn't change whether you're here or not. It's a clown. Yeah.
[15:22] SPEAKER_01: Super cool. So secret number one, you are the best asset to leverage. We're going to move on
[15:28] SPEAKER_01: secret number two. Okay. Fastest way to future proof your wealth portfolio is to stop focusing
[15:36] SPEAKER_01: on what's in your bank account and start investing in this one sure thing investment.
[15:44] SPEAKER_01: I call it the relationship economy, you know. Your real wealth doesn't just show up in your net worth
[15:50] SPEAKER_01: statement. It shows off of your accounts of happiness in the bank of quality relationships in your
[15:57] SPEAKER_01: life. So Margaret, share with us three simple strategies to build units of happiness.
[16:05] SPEAKER_00: This is directly related to our talk that we did last year. And units of happiness is the
[16:11] SPEAKER_00: currency as a bell and I have created to know that's how we gauge success. How many units of happiness
[16:18] SPEAKER_00: do we have right now? Or how many is this bring us a unit of happiness? No, it didn't. So we
[16:24] SPEAKER_00: have changed that right? Right. But we've narrowed it based on our business relationship because
[16:31] SPEAKER_00: we're a couple that lives and works together. And we've been doing this for a very long time.
[16:36] SPEAKER_00: We've learned to lot through business and we took three kind of areas and applied them to our
[16:42] SPEAKER_00: relationship. And so the first one is what we called be brave together. And that is have the tough
[16:50] SPEAKER_00: conversations. Right. Be brave and everybody knows when they have its dits here. Right. And you know
[16:58] SPEAKER_00: when you have to talk to somebody whether it's your partner, your child, a friend, a boss, a
[17:04] SPEAKER_00: coworker, it doesn't matter. Like you know when you have to have a difficult conversation because
[17:09] SPEAKER_00: it doesn't leave you. And so have those conversations. Have them with heart, with compassion,
[17:16] SPEAKER_01: what happened. Right. Well, one thing I you know we did the Dare to Lead, Brenna Brown book,
[17:24] SPEAKER_01: right? And I actually worked through a whole entire sequence of that book with a friend about
[17:29] SPEAKER_01: and figuring out how to learn from those difficult conversations. One thing I took away and I'm
[17:36] SPEAKER_01: curious what your experience with this, both in working with clients, but as you as a couple for
[17:42] SPEAKER_01: nerds, leaning into that difficult conversation, knowing what it is that you're not comfortable with,
[17:55] SPEAKER_01: even if you don't know the solution. Like I love your story about when you and Isabelle said,
[18:02] SPEAKER_01: oh my god, we've nearly hit the wall three times. You know and for you personally, the one where
[18:08] SPEAKER_01: you just said, this is not, this is just not working for me. Yeah. Which led you after the difficult
[18:16] SPEAKER_01: conversation, you went pivoted down a totally different track. And here we are, or here you are on
[18:21] SPEAKER_01: Vancouver Island, you know, tell me a little bit about that leaning into the difficult conversation.
[18:27] SPEAKER_01: What do you need to know yourself? Yeah. Before you lean into that conversation. So the important thing is
[18:35] SPEAKER_00: don't try to figure out what comes after the conversation. Right. So for me, I was not happy in
[18:45] SPEAKER_00: the business we ran at the time. It was not fulfilling me. And I knew I had to have that conversation.
[18:52] SPEAKER_00: Now did I know what I did want? Not really. Right. So I knew I had this attraction to horses,
[19:01] SPEAKER_00: but I didn't know beyond that. And so I didn't let that stop me. The important piece here was that,
[19:07] SPEAKER_00: hey, I'm not happy. And I actually need time to figure this out. Right. That was the difficult
[19:12] SPEAKER_00: conversation. And so that is what my approach to Isabelle was. And because I didn't have it all
[19:20] SPEAKER_00: figured out to begin with, I actually think that helps the relationship because it's like you're inviting,
[19:25] SPEAKER_00: in this case, my partner, inviting my partner to be a part of this process with me. Right. And
[19:31] SPEAKER_00: we were able to find a way to incorporate courses into our branding business. Like it wasn't a one
[19:39] SPEAKER_04: plus one is to the juic. You know, tech connect, a center for entrepreneurship and innovation and
[19:46] SPEAKER_04: left bridge has been springboarding entrepreneurs to success for 10 years and counting. Our spirit of
[19:52] SPEAKER_04: innovation is a way of life. We have an incredible environment. Our innovators are not afraid to
[19:59] SPEAKER_04: stand apart because they know that in Westbridge, we are brighter together. We are left bridge.
[20:06] SPEAKER_04: Come and join us. Go to chooseletthbridge.ca slash entrepreneur and we'll help you move and grow in
[20:13] SPEAKER_01: Westbridge. Well, and I think that's really important. I remember I have had conversations with
[20:18] SPEAKER_01: people who are near and dear, like, if you don't where you you have to have an ongoing relationship,
[20:24] SPEAKER_01: probably family, maybe best friends or oldest friends. And there's a discomfort. And yet you
[20:30] SPEAKER_01: still know that you need to lean into that conversation, right. Not knowing what the outcomes
[20:35] SPEAKER_01: going to be. And I guess my, you know, I think that you need to also have those difficult
[20:44] SPEAKER_01: conversations in business, you know, whether it's your business partner, your,
[20:50] SPEAKER_01: your, your contractor, your employee saying, this is, I'm not happy with this. You know, is
[20:59] SPEAKER_01: probably conversation that should happen more often or I'm not comfortable with this, but I don't
[21:04] SPEAKER_00: know what it is. Is there, yeah, the thing is, is the more you have difficult conversations,
[21:11] SPEAKER_00: the sooner you have them. So waiting until you're like miserable and have turned to alcohol,
[21:19] SPEAKER_00: you know, totally, you know what I mean? Like it can't go all. So the sooner you have where you're
[21:26] SPEAKER_00: like, oh, wait, I'm, I know where this goes. Like I don't, I'm going to start looking at this now
[21:32] SPEAKER_00: and invite the people that are important in your life to be a part of that. I love it. I call it,
[21:38] SPEAKER_01: I'll, I described as the hack, right? You become much more of what the, and adding to your
[21:43] SPEAKER_01: comment, which is the more you have difficult conversations, the easier it is. Yes.
[21:48] SPEAKER_01: So you have them sooner, but it becomes easier. So you go, oh my god, I'm feeling like, like in my
[21:53] SPEAKER_01: body, I am feeling discomfort here. I don't know what it is. You know, Maria, I'm feeling
[22:00] SPEAKER_01: discomfort. I'm angry at you or frustrated at you. What's going on? And it actually becomes more
[22:06] SPEAKER_00: of a need. Like you don't want to carry that, right? So you're like, figure out, like I'm not saying,
[22:12] SPEAKER_00: don't, don't, like don't go around exploding it. Everybody. That's not the point. But
[22:16] SPEAKER_00: figure out what's going on and then have an intelligent heart based conversation about it.
[22:22] SPEAKER_01: So that's being brave together. Yes.
[22:25] SPEAKER_00: Together. Is that next? Yes. Flow together is, um, the gist of that one is to create more
[22:33] SPEAKER_00: quality time, especially in your important relationships. And it's through COVID, I found that that's
[22:40] SPEAKER_00: become more important than ever. In finding ways to create quality time, not just with the people
[22:46] SPEAKER_00: that you have in your household, but with your extended family and friends and taking the time to,
[22:52] SPEAKER_00: like I haven't done as many Zoom dinners and get together. Says, I have this year, right? But it's
[22:57] SPEAKER_00: important to keep that quality time going with people. And, um, and how we, where the example we give
[23:06] SPEAKER_00: in the talk is Isabelle and I plan our spontaneity time. Right away people are like,
[23:13] SPEAKER_00: what? Like plan spontaneity? Yeah. What it, because we plan spontaneity, we have spontaneity in
[23:23] SPEAKER_00: our lives, right? And it sounds ridiculous, but it works because spontaneity is the first thing
[23:29] SPEAKER_00: to be chucked in your life when you're living, you know? And so, and spontaneity is some of the
[23:35] SPEAKER_00: best quality time you can have with somebody. I love it. I love it. So everybody is scheduled a little
[23:40] SPEAKER_01: bit as spontaneous plan for some spontaneity in your life. Actually, just in case somebody is not
[23:45] SPEAKER_01: aware of what that looks like. What does plan spontaneity look like? Um, well, we have a planned
[23:53] SPEAKER_00: date night every week. So more than night, Tuesday nights are our, we, what we do is we carve out time.
[24:00] SPEAKER_00: So we know we never book anything on Tuesday nights because this is our time. It's our date night
[24:06] SPEAKER_00: time. How it's spontaneous is we don't have what we're going to do. Right. Every Tuesday night shows
[24:15] SPEAKER_00: up and suddenly we're like, like, when it's nice out, sometimes we'll just be like, hey, let's go
[24:20] SPEAKER_00: paddle board or sometimes it's like, you know what? No, we're going to build a fire watching movie.
[24:24] SPEAKER_00: But we keep it spontaneous so that we get to do something or be something that that supports us
[24:31] SPEAKER_00: in that moment as opposed to pre-plan things. Awesome. And the third strategy to build a unit of
[24:39] SPEAKER_00: happiness. Yes, grow together. Um, the biggest, I'm laughing because every time I talk about this,
[24:48] SPEAKER_00: my lead horse cash just pops into my head because he's all about this. He is black and white and
[24:54] SPEAKER_00: literally he is black and white. There's no great. Um, and it's about boundaries. So the biggest thing
[25:02] SPEAKER_00: that we've learned in growing together is to create boundaries. In the sense of, I'll go back and
[25:10] SPEAKER_00: use this, this story that I just shared about me not being happy and knowing that I wanted to work
[25:16] SPEAKER_00: with horses. Um, in order for me to realize this dream, one, I shared it with Isabelle. And so
[25:24] SPEAKER_00: she was able to support me. And I had to create boundaries for myself around what I wouldn't
[25:31] SPEAKER_00: compromise on because I'm somebody that so easily falls into the role of supporting other people's
[25:40] SPEAKER_00: dreams. And not that they're asking me to, I willingly just, I'm that, I'm good at that, right?
[25:45] SPEAKER_00: Now, I had to create boundaries for myself to make sure that this time I was actually in the
[25:53] SPEAKER_00: creation of this that I was supporting myself in fully seeing through this piece with the horses.
[26:00] SPEAKER_00: And in doing that, you know, I'm now here on my equestrian estate. I have a herd, I do the work,
[26:07] SPEAKER_00: right? But I had to really, it was almost like create a focused, um, zone where I get to create this
[26:18] SPEAKER_00: and not worry about, can I know we have a branding business? I know we work with business owners.
[26:22] SPEAKER_00: And that's Isabelle's passion. And that'll, that's not going anywhere because that's what she's
[26:26] SPEAKER_00: meant to do. But I'm not going to worry about how are we going to combine this and try to create
[26:31] SPEAKER_00: it in my piece and we'll combine it as we go, right? So you've just touched on something really
[26:38] SPEAKER_01: important. That's kind of an under, um, underlining thread here is that once you've decided what you
[26:46] SPEAKER_01: know your role and purposes in the world, what legacy, what, what value can you, but do you want to
[26:53] SPEAKER_01: contribute in the world? And being aware and knowing that is so important. And then you go to your
[27:01] SPEAKER_01: partner and say, here's my XYZ or XYZ is this, what can we do together? What can we grow together?
[27:11] SPEAKER_01: And you know, there was a time, I guess I know you well enough that there was a time where the business
[27:16] SPEAKER_01: stuff was really mostly Isabelle and you were support. And then Equine pops up and suddenly,
[27:23] SPEAKER_01: I mean, I want to just touch on your journey a little bit from major urban center to where are you
[27:32] SPEAKER_01: now? I mean, you have totally de-urbanized your whole entire life. Can you just give us a snapshot
[27:38] SPEAKER_00: of what that looks like? Yes. So we gave you a 700 square foot condo in the middle of Vancouver,
[27:46] SPEAKER_00: where my, the only way I could have horses in my life was every week I drove like an hour and a half
[27:51] SPEAKER_00: out to go spend an hour and come back. And that was my, my horse experience, right? Uh, two, we're now
[27:59] SPEAKER_00: in Vancouver Island. We have over five acres. Um, we have a beautiful property with the horses
[28:05] SPEAKER_00: right here. There's a barn. We had like, it's just, it's night and day. It's just night and day.
[28:11] SPEAKER_01: And in, in some ways, you could describe it as a massive disruption or you could simply
[28:17] SPEAKER_01: describe it as evolution, right? The evolution of your business and desires and, and your ex-YZ. I
[28:24] SPEAKER_01: call it ex-YZ, which is your massively disruptive purpose, right? In life. And it brought you here,
[28:31] SPEAKER_00: here to Vancouver Island. Amazing. Yeah. And you know what? And we just to go back to this last
[28:37] SPEAKER_00: growing together piece, I think a big thing too is trust. We just kept trusting that it both
[28:45] SPEAKER_00: followed what we are called to do. We'll find a way. Now, I'm not saying everybody on the planet
[28:52] SPEAKER_00: can find a way to work together in a couple. That, that is not real, right? But the important thing,
[28:59] SPEAKER_00: like it just, we Isabelle and I know that were meant to work together. And so we made this
[29:04] SPEAKER_00: happen. We trusted that it was going to happen and it did. But what's important in any relationship,
[29:10] SPEAKER_00: whether you're working with your partner or not, is that you both keep stay connected to your Y,
[29:16] SPEAKER_00: to why you wake up in the morning, to what makes you smile, to, because when you do that,
[29:23] SPEAKER_00: individually, then when you come together, it's even more powerful. Whether you're coming together
[29:27] SPEAKER_00: in work or play or lover, whatever it is, when you come together, it's just more powerful when
[29:32] SPEAKER_01: you're both ignited individually. Absolutely. Okay, moving on to secret number three,
[29:38] SPEAKER_01: the easiest way to overcome drudgery and unleash limitless creativity to lead a joyful life,
[29:46] SPEAKER_01: despite what's going on around you, is to play. I described as play is the new work, because I
[29:55] SPEAKER_01: appreciate that there's moments in life that are not always pleasurable. Of course, you know,
[30:00] SPEAKER_01: around the globe, we've experienced that. But now more than ever, we have already touched on this,
[30:06] SPEAKER_01: how we respond and manage our emotions during dysplasia, and make the difference between
[30:11] SPEAKER_01: ongoing suffering or leading a joyful life. So, you know, I just got to ask you, let's talk a
[30:19] SPEAKER_01: little bit about love without limits. And how what's your secret there, the easiest way to overcome?
[30:27] SPEAKER_00: How do you incorporate that into your life? Patience, I think, okay, for me, how to love without limits
[30:41] SPEAKER_00: has actually really been highlighted this year, as I've witnessed people go through a wide variety
[30:48] SPEAKER_00: of emotions. And how I've managed to stay connected to love is first, I know that love isn't
[30:58] SPEAKER_00: external. Love comes from within me. It is a state of being. It's the first thing I talk about in
[31:04] SPEAKER_00: the book that love is a state of being. It's not something you go find or get or grab. It starts
[31:11] SPEAKER_00: within you. And so, when you live with that in your belly, you see things very differently.
[31:21] SPEAKER_00: You react to that. You tend to respond versus react, right? It's, if I'm trying to tie this into
[31:34] SPEAKER_00: a lot of my experiences this year with people, and I think the biggest thing is allowing yourself
[31:41] SPEAKER_00: the time and the space that you need to bring everything inward to give love to yourself, to,
[31:49] SPEAKER_00: you know, we all hear self-care, self-nurturing, but it's the way to go. You need to allow yourself
[31:56] SPEAKER_00: the time and space to nurture yourself because everything starts and begins with you, you need to be,
[32:04] SPEAKER_00: your glass needs to be full. Otherwise, you're not going to be watering anything, right? So,
[32:09] SPEAKER_00: that's probably the biggest, if I'm to boil it down into a nutshell, the biggest way to love
[32:17] SPEAKER_00: without limits, to keep your heart open, to keep trusting despite being hurt, to move through
[32:24] SPEAKER_00: situations that are difficult with love, to see somebody that has hurt you so badly and still
[32:31] SPEAKER_01: want the best for that person, right? I'm a little bit curious, and this is based on some things that
[32:38] SPEAKER_01: are going on in some of my, the lives of my family members is, do you have any thought, and it's personal,
[32:46] SPEAKER_01: so any thoughts or any insights that you've discovered, that can help the person who just is in that
[32:52] SPEAKER_01: moment of overwhelm, where maybe they're not quite self-aware, that love has to be overflowing from
[33:02] SPEAKER_01: them, they have to be, they have to love themselves, they really do have to love themselves,
[33:07] SPEAKER_01: before they can be in relationship. And what support is out there, or what is the secret to
[33:17] SPEAKER_01: turning the mirror around, going, how do I be? How do I show it be? What's the transition? What is that?
[33:26] SPEAKER_01: And I understand that's a lot of work to get there, don't under, but I'm saying, what is the trigger?
[33:30] SPEAKER_01: What's the trigger for people to suddenly go, oh, it's me, I'm negative, I'm suffering,
[33:41] SPEAKER_01: I'm maybe this, and therefore I'm attracting that into my life.
[33:48] SPEAKER_00: So that, oh, it's the moment, is the moment that's often quite deep buried under a lot of stuff,
[33:58] SPEAKER_00: right? So even to get to the, oh, it's me moment, there's stuff. And so I think I need to speak
[34:05] SPEAKER_00: to the stuff. And when you're in a moment, or when someone is in a moment where everything is
[34:12] SPEAKER_00: happening to me, and I'm not lucky, and why is this happening to me? If you can catch yourself in
[34:19] SPEAKER_00: that moment, not in the realization that it's you, but just in the realization that you feel like
[34:26] SPEAKER_00: you're a target, I would highly suggest to find, isolate yourself, find quiet, find stillness,
[34:38] SPEAKER_00: because any stimulation is only going to add to the, I'm being targeted.
[34:45] SPEAKER_00: So if you can find a place to be still, force yourself to step away from everything that's making
[34:52] SPEAKER_00: you feel that way, and just find some quiet and sens stillness to, and even if it's just that
[34:59] SPEAKER_00: you're laying there with your eyes closed, just try to stop the stimulation, because when you stop
[35:05] SPEAKER_00: the stimulation, then you sit with what is. Then you have a chance of looking at, of like going
[35:13] SPEAKER_00: through all the stuff to get to the, oh, wait, maybe it's me, maybe I have to look at myself,
[35:18] SPEAKER_00: and then keep going, but you need to create that environment for yourself in order to even have a chance.
[35:25] SPEAKER_01: Awesome. Margaret, you are amazing. Thank you. I want to thank you for contributing to,
[35:34] SPEAKER_01: this is the ticket to shift your thank you for 2021 and beyond. So we've talked about TEDx
[35:41] SPEAKER_01: and opening up, let's get, let's just spitball hearing it, let's get 10,000 people from around the
[35:47] SPEAKER_01: world at this TEDx, right? So let's just share with three other people. Yeah, we can do that.
[35:52] SPEAKER_01: We can do that. Like 10,000 in a world is not much. That's right. Exactly. And then we've revealed
[35:58] SPEAKER_01: three secrets to shifting your own thinking in 2021 and beyond. So that, I mean, this is a big,
[36:06] SPEAKER_01: this is a big deal. If you could wave a magic wand today and just leave people, leave everyone
[36:15] SPEAKER_01: and that's joining us today with a sentiment, a takeaway. What, what, what would you like to have
[36:23] SPEAKER_00: in for people? I want people to know that despite your past, you can thrive. You have what is in you,
[36:41] SPEAKER_00: you have, you already have it in you to have to come to a place where you're thriving and know that
[36:49] SPEAKER_00: there's help out there, whatever help speaks to you, it is out there. You just need to make the decision
[36:55] SPEAKER_01: that you want to thrive. It will show up. Speaking of showing up. Okay. Support, I think this is an
[37:04] SPEAKER_01: amazing evolution as well as you and Isabel during this global pandemic and isolation have come up
[37:12] SPEAKER_01: with a program, right? Yes. And I might not get the program exactly worded, right? But it's like
[37:18] SPEAKER_01: mindset mastery code, you know, 12 modules, people can tap in, give us a sense of, and I know you
[37:26] SPEAKER_01: created that heart feltedly out of the desire to support people who need to thrive. Tell me a little
[37:35] SPEAKER_00: bit about the program. Yes. So the mindset mastery code is 12 modules that basically help you
[37:44] SPEAKER_00: keep a healthy thriving mindset amidst chaos. And this is our COVID baby. We, because of the pandemic,
[37:56] SPEAKER_00: because we are a branding company that works with business owners, we wanted to be there for our
[38:01] SPEAKER_00: community. Like everybody was going through all kinds of reactions to the pandemic. And so we created
[38:08] SPEAKER_00: a mastermind for three months every week. We showed up and talked about mindset every week and every
[38:15] SPEAKER_00: week we saw all of our clients were showing up all these business. So when they're showing up every
[38:19] SPEAKER_00: week and it was so when we were done that mastermind isabel and I were like, we can offer this globally
[38:26] SPEAKER_00: like so we that's how the mindset mastery code came about. And we took the 12 biggest pieces that we
[38:32] SPEAKER_00: felt were in that mastermind and created 12 modules. And it's Isabella and I showing up together
[38:38] SPEAKER_00: which offers her genius and mine in every module. Awesome. And so how can people get a hold of
[38:44] SPEAKER_01: you post podcast? How can they tap into whether it's that program or connect with you? Yeah.
[38:50] SPEAKER_00: There are many ways. One is we created the Leapzone Learning Lab. So leapsonelearninglab.com. And
[38:59] SPEAKER_00: that's where you can access the mindset mastery code and all of our other online programs like
[39:04] SPEAKER_00: built rock and there's a ton of good information in my book. Like there's a ton depending on what's
[39:09] SPEAKER_00: speaking to you. It's all at leapsonelearninglab.com. And you can always reach us on Facebook. Leapsone
[39:19] SPEAKER_00: have a love matters page on Facebook if you're interested in the love portion of this. There's just
[39:26] SPEAKER_00: many ways to reach us our website. LeapsoneStrategy.com. Awesome. And list. Super accessible. It's
[39:34] SPEAKER_01: basically what I was saying. Yay. Awesome. Mergerda, thank you so much. I'm super excited. As you know,
[39:39] SPEAKER_01: this has been my first podcast in 2021 and I just think it perfectly sets the scene. Shifting
[39:46] SPEAKER_01: your thinking, getting your mindset solid, taking a new and fresh approach to building communities
[39:52] SPEAKER_01: and yourself and self loving are some awesome messages that you can do. Thank you so much.
[39:57] SPEAKER_00: Thank you. Thank you so much. This has been wonderful. You see them.
